BFA Portfolio: Week 2

This week, I continued with the smaller pieces, but also allowed myself to make even smaller pieces out of wood. At this point, I hadn't allowed myself to leave the realm of painting because it was (and still is) what I knew best. However, by increasing my sizes I was slowly dipping into the idea of changing the things I was familiar with. I wanted to continue making these odd shapes with soft colors and marks. Rather than just painting them, I continued experimenting with drawing and painting them.

BFA Progress: Week 11

Past Work Current Work                      For this week, I decided to re-photograph all of my previous pieces in a normal setting. I used natural light on the patio but rigged a little "photo booth" area where I can get the most open space/light. I had to tweak the lighting a bit in order to ensure that I got the most vibrancy in the photos.  Definitely liking the direction I've chosen to go. Of course, I do miss painting but these little pieces are so satisfying that they make up for it. I'll more than likely make some paintings on the side to boost my creative process.

BFA Progress: Week 10

I stuck with the same small shapes this week, but towards the end modified them a bit. I feel more comfortable working with these shapes, even though they aren't on the canvas. They allow me to connect with my work by holding it in the center of my palm. I would say that I definitely always feel the need to forge a relationship between my small scale-sculptures and myself.
